Peggy Sue Guenther

Peggy Sue Guenther, 61, of Dunbar, NE peacefully left this life on Sunday April 10, 2022 after her short battle with cancer. She was born to the late Joyce Rutt and Delbert DeVoogd in La Mesa, CA on September 20, 1960.

After the retirement of her grandfather from the U.S. Navy; Peggy moved to Nebraska with her aunt where she graduated from Palmyra High School and went on to college and pursued a degree in accounting. Peggy started her life journey into real estate and accounting. During these years Peggy raised two children; Carrie and Jason.

Peggy later went on and married Alvin Guenther in 1993 where they lived on the Guenther Family Farm in Dunbar. Peggy gave birth to a daughter; Amelia in 1997.  Peggy obtained her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Peru State College and her post Master’s from Doane College in Secondary Education.

She followed several career paths, eventually finding her true calling as a Jr. High Special Education Teacher at Elmwood-Murdock High School in 2009. She planned to retire in May of 2022. During Peggy’s time at Elmwood-Murdock she coached Jr High Girls Basketball, Cross Country, and was the Jr High Student Council Sponsor. Peggy made a positive impact in the lives of many students, parents, and fellow teachers at Elmwood-Murdock.

She had a strong love for God, enjoyed her time reading and being with her family on the farm.

Peggy’s survivors include her husband, Al; daughter, Carrie Reicks (significant other Jim Kramer) of Council Bluffs, IA; son, Jason, and wife Deri Weyers of Surprise, AZ; daughter, Amelia, and husband Colton Porter of Lincoln, NE; stepson Mike Guenther of Ord, NE; stepson Jake, and wife Janie Guenther of Nebraska City, NE.

She is also survived by her grandchildren: Grady (wife Mindy) Guenther, Des Moines, IA; AJ Herrera, Omaha, NE; Holden Brown, Nebraska City, NE; Shawn Reicks, Lincoln, NE; Natalei Reicks, Council Bluffs, IA; Owen, Ethan, Breckin and Hannah Weyers, Surprise, AZ; and Kennedy Porter, Lincoln, NE. Peggy also leaves behind many other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday April 23, 2022 at 10:30 AM at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nebraska City, NE with lunch/visitation to follow. The church will be open from 11:30 AM- 1:30 PM for those who wish to visit but not attend the service.

Dr. Rev. James Wayne Gordon, 77, died Saturday, March 5th, 2022, peacefully at his residence surrounded by family. A private family service will be held. He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchild, and siblings. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.

Jenifer Lynn Guzinski

Jenifer Lynn Guzinski, 59, of Lincoln, passed away Tuesday, December 7, 2021, in Lincoln, from many complications she has dealt with since her pre-teen years. Jeni was born, September 6, 1962, in Lincoln, Nebraska to Gary and Lou (Bray) Salzman. Jeni grew up in Lincoln and went to a couple of different elementary schools and graduated from Lincoln East High School in 1980. She attended the culinary program at Southeast community college, garnering an associate degree, and went on to work as a cook for several years. A career change led her to Vocational Rehabilitation’s clerical program. She was then hired by the VANWIHC (VA), where she was a receptionist for several years. She later retired from Urology PC, after working there for 25 years.

Jeni loved to sing to the Christian radio station. Willie Nelson, John Denver, Jimmy Buffett, Aretha Franklin, and Cher were a few of her favorite people to sing along with also. She had much compassion for all animals and nature, including dolphins and the ocean, in which she has a huge collection of various keepsake tokens. Throughout her life, she formed many beautiful relationships along the way of her occupations that she cherished immensely.

She is survived by her mother Lou (Bray) Salzman, brother Jay and Donna (Dostal) Salzman, sister Joleen and Robert Perry, in-law Leonard Jr. and Shari Guzinski of Grand Island, grandchildren Lily and Sarah Riha, and Brodin Perkins, in addition to many nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Frank Guzinski, father Gary Salzman, father-in-law Leonard Sr. and mother-in-law Katheryn Guzinski, son Christopher Lee Harvey, and grandson Zechariah Harvey.

Memorials to the family will go to supporting the Marfan Foundation and the Capital Humane Society. A celebration of life will be held in Lincoln at 11:00 am on Thursday, December 16, 2021, with a luncheon meal following at Christ United Methodist Church; 4530 A St, Lincoln, NE 68510. MASKS ARE REQUIRED. NO EXCEPTIONS. Service will be live streamed and recorded on Facebook at Christ UMC Linc Funerals.

Donald David Foster Gillam

Born December 8th, 1963 to Donald F. Gillam and Nelma (Midge) M. Gillam. On November 22nd, 2021 David went to be with his Mother, Nelma (Midge) Gillam and his sons Jeffrey D.F. Gillam, D. A. Jack Gillam and William “Billy” T.C. Gillam, Nephews Andrew “Drew” J.M. Gillam, Ian A.M. Crooks and Grand Niece Hope L. Roth, whom, he is preceded in death.

David is survived by His wife Anne of 34yrs, daughter Kimberly (Josh Shearer) , Father Donald Gillam, Sisters Paige and Tony Grant, Tracy Gillam (Shane Rakow). Nieces Katie Changstrom, Brianne Crooks, Elizabeth and Mikel Sieck, Nephews Thomas Crooks (Aubry Birch) and Alex Crooks. Grand nieces, Emmi Changstrom, Haleigh Changstrom, Brynnlee Changstrom, Sophia Roth, Amelia Davis and Grand nephew Declan Changstrom.

David Lived in Lincoln, NE his entire life. He Graduated from Lincoln Northeast Highschool and worked in several bakeries around Lincoln, NE during his life.

David was an avid sports fan and devout Husker football follower. He participated in many sporting activities throughout his life Boxing, Swimming, Baseball, Football, Slow Pitch Softball, but his major sporting passion was in Bowling. He began bowling as a young child and continued until just a short time ago. He loved spending his time with family, friends and his beloved dogs, yours too! He had an annual 4th of July Party, Good times, Good Food, Drink and Epic Displays of Fireworks.

David will be truly missed.
