Susan Rose Whitford

Sue Whitford was born in Lexington and raised on a farm near Eustis, Nebraska.  She was born to Martin and Erna Gall Schurr. She died peacefully early Monday morning May 3, 2021.

Sue attended the university of Nebraska and completed her degree in Nutrition   She worked for a number of years as a dietitian in research and later as a dietitian working with the elderly at Lancaster Manor.  She took a position as the supervisor and director of food services at the Manor where she was responsible for about 365,000 meals per year.

She worked 23 years as a supervisor of staff in the Lincoln school lunch program.  She retired in 2013.

Sue leaves to mourn her husband Dallas, after 50 years of marriage. Also surviving are her brothers Lawrence, Stanley and David of Eustis and sisters:  Beverly of Grove Oklahoma, Jeanne (Dan) of Hastings, Marian (Michael) of Callaway and Vivian (Ken) of McCook plus a host of nieces, nephews and friends).

She has requested no service with burial in the National Cemetery in Omaha.   A memorial will take place over the summer. Memorials can be given to the Lincoln Food Bank.

    I am so sorry for your loss of Susan..She was one of my best friends through school..Susan was always so helpful and kind.
