Sharol Jean Slama

Pastor, Teacher, Mother, Grandmother Sharol Jean Slama (Samp) (Lewis) was born in Ansley, Nebraska on June 15, 1944 to Melvin and Darlene (Roblee) Samp. Passed into God’s glory, Saturday morning February 15, 2025 at The Grace Space 1740 Superior St, Lincoln, NE 68521.
Sharol accepted Christ at a young age and was filled with the Holy Spirit. She was called by God to minister at a young age and spent numerous hours preaching to the farm animals and leading them to Christ. She was taught piano by a neighbor and would later in life play for numerous hours with family around piano singing hymns and choruses. God would touch those who were present.
August 30, 1964 Sharol married Daryl Lewis at the Assembly of God Church in Taylor, Nebraska. They moved to Springfield, Missouri to attend Central Bible College.
In the Fall of 1971, Daryl and Sharol were asked to become Interim Pastors of the Assembly of God Church in Arnold, NE. In the Summer of 1972, they were asked to Pastor the Assembly of God Church in Stapleton, NE.
In the Summer of 1978, Daryl, Sharol and the kids were asked to become Pastors at the Assembly of God Church in Fairbury, NE.
During their time in Fairbury, there were many Foster-Children that entered the Lewis’ household.
In August of 1991 Daryl was killed in an accident and Sharol took on teaching all grades at Fairbury Community Christian School.
In the Summer of 1993 Sharol visited the Holy Land with a friend and met her future Husband George Slama. She was rebaptized in the Jordan river and walked where Jesus walked and had a whole new devotion to God and to ministry.
In the Spring of 1994 George proposed to Sharol on a riverboat cruise in MN and they were married at Christs Place Church in Lincoln by Pastor Dave Argue on August 6, 1994.
She loved and babysat her grandchildren. Taking them for Ice Cream Cones and French Fries at McDonalds or to play at playgrounds. She enjoyed making cookies, or other baked goods with them. Jello Cake was one of the favorites.
She was very involved with Christ Place Church where she could be found serving and coordinating many luncheons for funerals or other events, as well as involvement in the Prayer Chain and various Bible Studies.
Sharol moved on to be with the Lord on February 15, 2025. Her last few days were spent praising, worshipping and thanking the Lord with her hands lifted high to the heavens in her bed at The Grace Space. She will be truly missed by Family and friends. A loving Godly woman that was sensitive to the Lords Presence and Spirit.
Sharol is survived by her brother Daryl (Judy) Samp, Son Lynn (Cheri) Lewis, Grandchildren Gabriella, AnaLeise and David Lewis, Celeste (Joel) (Lewis) Stranberg, and Grandsons Andrew and Dylan Lewis, many friends and students.
Sharol was proceeded in death by her Parent’s Melvin and Darlene Samp, Husband Daryl Lewis, Son Troy Lewis, Spouse George Slama, and Daughter Jodi (Lewis) Naykki.
Celebration of Life will be held at Believe Assembly of God in 500 Broad St Jansen, NE on June 21, 2025 at 1:30 PM.
