Sandra L. Folden
Sandra (Sam) was born August 12, 1947 to William and Anglea Combs in Denver, CO. She passed away on August 28, 2024, at the age of 77. She grew up in Sterling, CO and graduated from St. Anthony’s Catholic High School, in 1965. She was a beloved mother, grandmother and friend. Her courage in facing every obstacle life threw her way was an inspiration to all who knew her. Sam built a legacy of strength in her children and friends.
After graduating high school she left Colorado and moved to Lincoln, NE. Here she raised her three children, Tim, Tara and Crystal, but her heart was always in Colorado. After her children left home she moved back to Colorado and attended Colorado State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies. She worked for many years with troubled adolescents. Eventually, she came back to Lincoln to be closer to her family and spend quality time with her granddaughter, Maia.
Her laughter came easily, she loved antiques and loved to garden, never missing an opportunity to get new plants and flowers. She was alway up for new adventures and took advantage of any opportunity to see the beautiful mountains in Colorado. She took great joy in creating wonderful memories sharing those mountains with her family and friends.
Left to mourn her are her family, who were the center of her world. Family members include her son Timothy Folden; and daughters Tara Folden, and Crystal Folden Lapin (Jeff); granddaughter Maia Lapin; and many cousins. Sam will be deeply missed, but her spirit lives on in the family and friends she cherished. “We love you Mom and miss you dearly.”
Per Sam’s wishes, we will celebrate her life up in the mountains among the wildflowers she loved. Here she can rest with the best view after her long well lived life.

Condolences for Sandra L. Folden
Rest in peace Sam — your daughters are an excellent example of your legacy on earth. Love them both and sending hugs for them — they will definitely miss you. I enjoyed hanging out with them and you in Santa Cruz,California in the 90s too. I remember how cool you were. ❤️
Thinking of you, remembering the coolest mom I ever met.
I have two memories of Sam that stand out. I was kindergarten aged when I took a pair of crafting scissors and cut my long hair short Horrified as my mother and Sam surely were, i recall being in your backyard as Sam cut and trimmed my hair to a presentable state as school pictures were the same week!
I also recall Sam making me feel like a little adult inviting me to a show at Pinewood Bowl with her, Tara and Crystal. It was exciting for me because it seems like it was the first time I went out with people who weren’t my family and I felt free. Also I remember Sam saying to put on mosquito repellent, and to this day when I think of Pinewood bowl, I think of mosquitoes.
