Samuel Wade Thornton
Samuel Wade Thornton was born August 4th 1967 to Larry and Janice in Union City, TN. Sam passed away at Bryan East Campus Hospital, Lincoln, NE, on August 9th, 2022. Sam lived in many places though out his life, as his mother and Step-Father (Bob Corlew) were Government Services Employees. Sam graduated from Lansing High School in Lansing, KS. After Graduation he enlisted in the Army and got stationed in Germany, where he met his partner in crime and future Wife.
On January 28, 1989, Sam married Bridget Joseph of Valentine, NE. Sam and Bridget raised their two children in Germany, Valentine and Lincoln, NE.
Sam enjoyed fishing, NASCAR, the Huskers, Playing guitars with his Bro-friends as well as many impromptu games of cribbage in his Man-Cave! He loved spending time in his Hot Tub with his grandchildren, who he LOVED with all of his heart.
Sam is survived by his best friend and wife of 36 years, Bridget, of Lincoln; Mother, Janice Corlew (Bob) of Huntsville, AL; daughter Kara (Thornton) Cage (Frederick) of Panama City, FL; daughter, Chelsey Thornton (Tre’Kuic Engnell Sr); Malek Riek (Teresa); grandchildren, Nyakuoth Riek, Emmanuel Riek, Cecelia Riek, Goaner Riek, Tre’Kuic Engnell Jr, TaShaun Engnell all of Lincoln. His Aunt Joan, Uncle Fred and cousins Debbie (Marc) and Natalie (Gregg); Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and many many friends.
Funeral Service will be held on September 1st, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ebenezer Congregational Church; 801 B Street, Lincoln NE.
In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Family or to Live On Nebraska or to Wounded Warriors Veterans Charity – Non Profit Organization for Veterans I WWP.
