Ron L. Fox
Ronnie (Ron) LeRoy Fox passed away surrounded by family on June 3, 2023 at the age of 78. Ron was born in Geneva, Nebraska on June 30, 1944 to David and Phyllis (Caton) Fox.
The family moved to Lincoln where Ron graduated from Northeast High School in 1962 and Nebraska Wesleyan in 1966, with a degree in Business Administration. As a sophomore in high school Ron met Kay (Shuman), and the couple married on August 5th, 1967. They had two daughters, Heather and Kindra. As a family they spent many summers camping and traveling together. Ron and Kay enjoyed traveling to National Parks around the country with family and friends. Their devotion to each other was an inspiration.
Ron played sports in high school, college, and throughout his adult life. He was a letter winner and team captain on Nebraska Wesleyan’s football team. For forty years Ron participated in slow pitch softball as a player, coach, and league administrator. In 1967 his team won the inaugural Nebraska Men’s Slow Pitch State Championship. He was voted MVP of the 1971 State Tournament and in 2000 Ron was inducted into the Nebraska Softball Hall of Fame. Ron enjoyed officiating high school wrestling, playing pick-up basketball games, playing co-ed volleyball with Kay, and coaching and attending his daughter’s and granddaughter’s sporting events.
In January 1979 Ron started Fox Claims Service, Inc., where he worked as owner and operator for nearly forty years. He obtained his relator license and sold homes as a secondary source of income. Ron was good with numbers and conversing with people, which served him well in both endeavors.
Ron was as kind and humble as he was tall and strong. He could both literally and figuratively carry his family on his shoulders. Ron encouraged his children to treat others the way they wanted to be treated. He was patient and encouraging and always had a hug waiting for his loved ones. The past seventeen years Ron’s favorite pastime was spending time with his granddaughter with whom he shared a special bond. He lives on in the hearts of family and friends.
Ron is survived by his wife Kay, sister Mary Lou (Howard) Fosler, daughters Heather Fox and Kindra Fox, son-in-law Jeff Scheer, and granddaughter Ivy Fox-Hays.
A Celebration of Life will be held June 30, 2023 at 2:30 p.m. at St. Mark’s Methodist Church in Lincoln where he was a long-time member.
Donations will go to youth sports scholarships for underserved children and the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA).

Sending hugs and love to all.
Ron was a great guy. He and his friend Mick Pierce were such good role models for a lot of us future Northeast Rockets. Ron was one of those guys who had an infectious smile and big heart. He always had time to chat show interest in others. Ron will be sorely missed but always fondly remembered.
Jim Campbell
We knew Ron for many years from softball and volleyball. He was a kind and respectful person. Blessings to Kay and family.
I will always remember Ron as a kind, gentle and gracious man. He smiled easily and quickly. I always enjoyed Ron’s teasing which was harmless, but so clever. My sincerest condolences to Kay, Heather, Kindra, Iris, Jeff and Mary Lou. Love, Gayla Nelsen

Ron was a very tough competitor both on the football field as well as the wrestling mat. A very humble and friendly guy. Always had a smile and took time to chat when I would run into him. RIP Foxie. Our deepest sympathy to Kay and family. Terry & Jan Monk
Regy and I met Kay and Ron at Nebraska Wesleyan and we’ve been friends since then. Our sons were about the same age as Heather and Kindra. We enjoyed “playdates” with the girls. We also had great fun vacationing together! I love the photo of Ron! That’s HIM – big smile, twinkle in his eye, and ready to tell a joke or help with a task! He was a GREAT GUY who never met a stranger! He was a supportive father and Heather, Kindra, and son-in-law, Jeff Scheer, will have fond memories. Granddaughter, Ivy, was a real joy for both Ron and Kay. We are all better for having known him!
We are so sorry to hear of Ron’s passing. All the years from Tri-County to being neighbors in Fox Hollow, it was a joy to know both of you. You will be in our hearts and prayers.
I knew Kay from when she taught at Tri-County High School. Sorry to hear of Ron’s passing. Hugs from us.
Losing a true old friend. One of the most genuine and honest men l know. Will be missed. Condolences to Kay and all of the Fox families.

So sorry to hear of Ron’s passing. I was a college football teammate of Ron at Nebraska Wesleyan. He was usually quiet and business-like, but he was quite the competitor, hard working and one tough individual. I was always glad he was on my side.
Ron was a great person. Always a friendly grin and easy to talk to. We remember the times we were part of the couples golf group. Ron always had a sense of humor and could share a joke or two. He had a knack for carrying on a good conversation with anyone. Hugs and prayers to you and your family, Kay.
I was blessed to be around the Fox family for many days during my childhood. Ron was one of the best men out there. He was a wonderful husband to Kay and a great father to his girls. He was gentle, kind and good. I’m very sad to hear of his passing. Sending love to Kay, Heather, Kindra, Jeff and Ivy.
My sympathy to you, Kay, and your family on the loss of Ron. As you know, 6 months ago I lived the same loss. SO sweet to read Jim Campbell’s tribute to Ron and Mick as positive role models for him and others at LNE. Mick surely loved and respected Ron for his kind, gentle spirit AND his athletic abilities. He shared an incident of getting a fat lip from gentle Ron during a ‘blocking practice drill? Mick wasn’t paying attention :). My thoughts and prayers for the comfort of Jesus’ heart to be with you.
Kay, Aunt Mary Lou and Uncle Howard and families. My deepest sympathies on Rons passing. When I think of Ron I picture his smile and his humor. Hugs and prayers to all.

Ron and Kay Fox are some of our best friends. We and two other couples enjoyed camping when our kids were young. When the kids were grown we took a lot of trips together and made many wonderful memories. We spent lots of hours in coffee shops just visiting. Ron had a strong faith in God and lived his life accordingly. We feel so blessed to have known Ron and look forward to keeping Kay in our lives.
Love, John and Lois
Kay & family – John & I want to express our deepest sympathy to you on the loss of Ron. We got to know Ron at St Mark’s (where else?) & we always enjoyed visiting with him whenever we saw him. Over the years, we developed a friendship & we never missed an opportunity to visit whenever we were together. . Ron was one of the “good guys” who was always friendly & he was a joy to be around whether it was volunteering together or just visiting. He will be missed by many, but we know that Heaven has gained another angel. We will keep Kay & all of your family in our thoughts & prayers in the days & weeks ahead.
