Robert Ault

Robert “Bob” C. Ault left for the cosmos on July 31, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born on April 26, 1952 in Cambridge, NE to Robert E. and Hazel Ault. Bob spent his early childhood in Bartley, NE before moving to McCook, NE. Some of his favorite memories were summers spent in Indianola with his Aunt Carrie and Uncle Bud Stiffler – who loved him like their own. Bob graduated from McCook Senior High School with the Class of 1970 and attended McCook Community College. Bob married Cynthia Foster in January of 1974 and they would later welcome their only child, a daughter Hayley (whom he usually called Jack).
After serving in the National Guard for several years Bob spent the rest of his working life in furniture sales working first in the family business, Ault Furniture, with his Dad until its closing in 1989. In 1990, after moving to Lincoln, Bob worked at Land & Sky and later at Ernie’s in Ceresco. He was smart, personable, handsome and funny and could sell you anything you needed and lots of things you probably didn’t. He was just one of those people that others were drawn to. His boisterous laugh would lead you right to him.
Bob is survived by his daughter Hayley (Ryan) Ault; closest friend and former spouse Cindy (Alan) Ault; brother Jim (Carol) Ault; former sisters-in-law Suzanne (Blaine) Sailors; Jayne (Kevaghn) Fair; former brother-in-law Mike Foster (Kate), nieces and nephews.
Bob never went anywhere without making a friend. I know that there folks far and wide who have many stories to tell and will miss him almost as much as we do. He would love nothing more than for old friends to gather, share stories, and toast him with some cold beers.
Bob requested cremation with no services.
