Patrick James Faden

July 4, 1947 to October 30, 2025
Patrick Faden, beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2025 at the age of 78.
Born on the Fourth of July, 1947, to James and Norma Faden, Pat grew up in Harrisburg, Nebraska, graduating in 1965 from Harrisburg High School where he excelled in academics, football, basketball, and track. He went on to earn a business degree from Kearney State College where he met many lifelong friends.
Pat began his professional career as a budget analyst for Nebraska Governor J.J. Exon, where he helped shape state economic initiatives. He later worked as a realtor in Lincoln before returning to Kearney in 1973 to open Ball Real Estate which he operated for many years. Eventually, Pat returned to Lincoln and continued his work in real estate as a commercial appraiser for the Lancaster County Assessor’s Office.
Pat was born with the Irish gift of gab. He loved a good conversation – especially long, thoughtful, and sometimes spirited philosophical debates with his closest friends (or anyone who would engage). He especially loved talking about his Banner County roots, the real estate market in Kearney in 1979, and pork belly futures. But he would engage on most any topic just to have an opportunity to visit.
Pat is preceded in death by his parents Jim and Norma, and his brother Dan. He is survived by his son Sean Faden and Sean’s wife Renee; his grandsons Ryan and Nolan Faden who brought him endless joy; his daughter Kim Faden McClendon; and sisters Cheryl (Marty) Miller, and Kathy (Rod) Van Pelt.
A lunch and gathering to celebrate Pat’s life will be held on Tuesday November 4, 2025 from 11:30 to 3:00 at Grata located at 6891 A Street in Lincoln, Nebraska. In true Pat fashion, the afternoon will be about visiting, chatting with old friends, sharing stories, maybe telling a few lies, and enjoying good company. A few people will share words about Pat at 1:00. A small gathering in Banner County will follow on a later date.
While the family deeply appreciates condolences, they would especially love for friends to share a favorite “Pat Story” in the online comments.

Heck of a good guy from Harrisburg. We were friends at Kearney while we were in college.
Sorry for your loss!!
To the family of Pat, he sure was a great guy!! I used to have coffee and conversations with him in the mornings at several early morning meetings. He always had a gentle smile and a warm way about him. He was missed greatly when it was harder for him to make a meeting. Pat, thank you for the wonderful memories and laughs. We will see each other again.
Love, Jean
A wonderful man! So glad to have known him. He will be missed, but we can be sure that he is in a better place reuniting with friends and loved ones.
Uncle Pat had a calm, steady way about him — and that quiet voice of his was the complete opposite of my loud one. He’ll be missed for his humor, his perspective, and the way he made everything feel a little lighter just by being there.
“Uncle Pat” was always a cool customer. Smart, debonair and witty. I loved celebrating his birthday on July 4th, which sometimes involved trips to “the cabin,” fishing and “BS-ing.” He never forgot his western Nebraska roots and I always admired that and look forward to celebrating his life again out in Harrisburg. We’ll miss you Pat.
Having known Pat best at what he would not have recalled as a high point in his life, I was so happy to see the photo of him smiling and in full possession of himself and looking ready for a good conversation. Although coming from very different places and interests, we found we shared a great deal in common. May he rest in peace and rise in glory.
My prayers for the family and friends of Pat’s, he was such a ray of sunshine and had a warm friendly heart. I worked with Pat at City of Lincoln/Lancaster County, he was always happy to talk and had the best stories! He will be greatly missed. May your memories bring you comfort during this difficult time.
