Nancy Claire Diekmann
Nancy Claire (Holmquist) Diekmann was born to Claire and Mildred (Romberg) Holmquist on October 13, 1943 in Oakland, Nebraska. After graduating from Oakland High School in 1961, she attended the University of Nebraska – Lincoln, where she served as president of her Delta Gamma sorority and vice-president of Mortar Board honorary. Upon earning her degree in Education with an English endorsement, Nancy taught at Lincoln High School. She then married Robert G. (Bob) Diekmann on September 4, 1966.
After Bob’s graduation from UNL, they taught in Humboldt, Nebraska, where their son, Scott, was born. They then moved to Beaver City where their daughter, Cynthia Jean, and son, Matt were born. Their next moves were to Elkhorn, Sutton, and finally Springfield, where Nancy returned to teaching at Arlington and then Platteview High School. Nancy had great love for her students and those she coached in Mock Trial at Platteview. Her excellence as an educator was recognized by UNL with the presentation of the Teachers College Freda Battey Distinguished Educator Award in 1994, and, more importantly, by those students she challenged every day.
After retiring from her teaching career, Nancy could be found at Nebraska Cornhusker football, volleyball, and baseball games, playing golf, and enjoying her Friday bridge group, several book clubs, her Bible study and Sunday School classes, and, of course, her grandchildren.
She is survived by her sons, Scott and Matt (Becky); grandchildren, Natalie and Nicholas Diekmann, David Profenna, and Elizabeth Fowler; and sisters Cynthia (Tom) Fitchett and Jean Vincent, as well as her many loving nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were husband, Bob; daughter, Cynthia Jean; brother-in-law, Jack Vincent; and her parents Claire and Mildred Holmquist.

Condolences for Nancy Claire Diekmann
Scott & Matt: I just heard about your Mom’s passing. I am so sorry!! Not sure you’ll remember us from Beaver City. We definitely have memories while you lived here. Scott: do you remember when you & Rex got caught smoking in your basement. Matt won’t remember but when your Dad picked Scott & Cynthia up at our house after he brought you & your Mom home from the hospital, they had the chicken pox. Not sure if they both did or one later. Of course, Allison & Rex soon had them. Your Mom was also a P.E.O sister. Our deepest sympathy to your family. Ron & Janet
