Myrna Jean Johnson
Myrna Jean Johnson (Shepherd) passed away on February 23, 2024, in Lincoln, Nebraska at Havelock Manor. At the time of her death Myrna was 83. She passed surrounded by love from her family and friends. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at 10:30 am at St. David’s Episcopal Church, 8800 Holdrege St, Lincoln, NE. Aspen Cremation and Burial Service in Lincoln, NE, is assisting with the arrangements.
Myrna was born to Gilbert F. and Florence M. Shepherd (Platte) December 19, 1940 in Gridley, Kansas. She was the fifth sibling born and was followed by five more siblings after her birth. She met her husband, William Johnson, in Emerald, NE and later got married on June 26, 1971.
Myrna had a career in insurance, real estate, and lending for most of her life. She worshiped at St. David’s Episcopal Church in Lincoln, NE. She was an angel on earth, always caring for her loved ones and making everyone feel comfortable and welcome. Myrna’s hobbies included cooking, baking, crafts, gardening, playing board and card games, spending time with her animals, and attending horse shows. The light of her life was living close to her daughter, Jen, and helping raise her grandchildren, Teara and Kylee.
Myrna is survived by her husband, William Johnson, of Greenwood, NE; children: Jim Moyer of Hartford, KS, Deb Besack (Hank) of Waverly, KS, and Jennifer Rieflin of Greenwood, NE; step-children: Corrine Bever, Cynthia Catano (David), TX, William Johnson Jr. (Kymberly), and JoAnna Johnson; 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren; siblings: Gary (Linda) Shepherd, Bob Shepherd, Sherry (Sam) Massey, Sandra (Pat) Vogts.
Myrna was preceded in death by her parents, Florence and Gilbert Shepherd, and siblings Edwin, Ron, Raymond, and Dale Shepherd.
