Condolences for Michael Henry West
Our sincerest condolences to Aunt Peggy, Greg and family. Very heartbroken to hear the news. After getting the email from the Union dad and me were going to stop out, we just didn’t get there quick enough. I enjoyed working with him at Station 7 years back and catching up. He made a difference in his community. We are extremely saddened by your loss.
My condolences, prayers, and thoughts are with Peggy, Greg, and family. I have many fine memories of Mike both from our visits to Nebraska as well as Mike and Peggy’s visits to Michigan. Hearing of his passing, I pulled up some pictures we had taken of our visit to the Henry Ford Museum in 2010, with Mike, Peggy, and my dad sitting in a Model T or standing by race cars and other exhibits. Mike was always welcoming to us, brought a smile to my face every time I saw and talked to him, and I consider myself very blessed to have had him in my life.
My deepest sympathies to Mike’s family and friends. He was a good friend in high school. May he Rest In Peace.
Mike was a patient at the College of Dentistry where I worked 40 years! He was a very pleasant person & very enjoyable to visit with! Sending prayers for healing. May the Lord bring comfort, & peace!! God Bless!🙏🙏❤️❤️
Peggy and family, our thoughts are with you. We were so sad to hear of Mike’s passing.
It was fun when you both lived behind us and the guys being on the Fire Department!
Dear Peggy; I was so honored to have met Mike and worked with him at Mahoney. Mike was a loving, fun guy to be around. He was full of good stories and as I am a chaplain for the Police and Fire department we shared those many times. We would laugh continually about those and since station five is only two blocks from my house and I shared with him that we probably met at one time or another. My wife and I used to make Christmas cookies with our grandkids and bring them to the station house for the gang there. There was also the night my wife suffered cardiac arrest and the station was naturally first to answer our call. He was truly part of the miracles that happened that night. He also shared his love for his son and grandchildren as well. Psalm 46:10 is a favorite and I pray it brings some peace in this time. “Be still, and know that I am God”. May he grant you that portion of peace. Sincerely, Monte Baatz
Mike was always one of the first to show up to mow at the golf course. His passion for the course and for the people who he worked with, was second to none. His work ethic, his positive attitude and most importantly his friendship will be deeply missed.
I hadn’t known Mike that long as I was new at the golf course but he worked with me so well it was like he knew me for a long time which made him special to me, I’m sad & jealous for the people who knew him for years as I’m sure he was a good friend to all. He will be missed.
Mike has been the heartbeat of our staff at Mahoney Golf Course seeing his smile every morning gave me the feeling it was going to be a great day my heartfelt condolences on your loss
I only knew Mike a few years while working with him at the golf course. The one thing about Mike that will always be with me is his stories working with the fire department. Also his joyous outlook on life. Mike, you will be missed. Sending my thoughts and prayers to the family that meant so much to Mike.
I started working at Mahoney Golf Course last year. That was the first time I met Mike. He and I usually arrived at the golf course about the same time. We sat across from each other and every morning we would discuss news and events that happened the previous day. He especially liked when I asked him about a few friends of mine that worked at the fire department. I could see the devotion he had for the fire department. He carried that over to the golf course. I will miss my morning chats and more importantly a great friend I had for 2 years. Rest in peace my friend.

Mike is going to be greatly missed out here at Mahoney. I’m going to miss his bubbly good morning as soon as you walked in the door. He special hand wave when you passed him on the mower and all the stories from the fire department.
I’ll just take this time for one Havelock Boy to remember another Havelock Boy.
