featured image

Lois was born in Butte, Montana November 13, 1955. She was lucky to grow up in multiple states including Idaho, Washington, Utah, and Colorado before making Nebraska home.

Her commitment to improving the lives of children left a lasting impact on the community she served. Lois was known for her warm heart, tireless work ethic, and unwavering dedication to making the world a better place for our youth and families.

Outside of her career Lois found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved working in her beautiful yard, making delicious meals, and spending time with family- especially her beloved husband. She also loved all animals and provided a warm home to many from the Capital Humane Society.

She is survived by her husband, David Thiel; Children Angie (Kipp) Ransom of Lincoln, Christopher (Jillian) Thiel of Lincoln; and  grandchildren Alexander Thiel, Allyson (Garreth) Thiel-Crawford Soto, Rachel Thiel, Natalie Thiel, and Caden Ransom, all of Lincoln.

Brother John (Maggie) Stott, Portland, Oregon, William (Kelli) Stott, Omaha;  Sister-in-law Lyn Heng, Lincoln. Numerous nieces and nephews.

Lois was preceded in death by parents, William and Frances Stott. Brother, David Stott, and sister-in-law Layn Bossaller.

A private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Foster Care Closet of Nebraska  (643 S 25th Street Ste 8, Lincoln, NE 68510)  in her memory.

I’m at Lois at work at Health & Human Services. She just always struck me as someone who not only cared about people but had compassionn and empathy , even with the most difficult of people. Sh3 is a gentle soul and never had an unkind word for anyone. May her memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved her.

I’m so very sorry to hear this news. Lois was so very kind to our entire family. She, her parents Bill & Fran, and “Billy” all were the best neighbors anyone could ever have and made South Street a great place to grow up. It was great to reconnect with Lois several times over the last few years and on FB as well. She was such a bright light and will be missed by many. Sending my love and prayers to the entire family at this sad time. May you all find comfort in your memories and knowing she is at peace with Bill and Fran and other loved ones who went before her.

Words can never heal the pain. Lois was a dear friend to me when our girls grew up together. We had lost touch but every so often I would see her at DHHS. Angie sending you hugs and my deepest sympathy to all of you.
