Larry E. Sypho

October 14, 1960 – February 6, 2025
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Larry who peacefully left us while at home on February 6th. He was a graduate of Lincoln High School, Lincoln, NE. Larry was employed by the Lincoln Public Schools for over 30 years and recently retired. He had many friends and colleagues during his service at LPS.
In addition to his role as a devoted husband, Larry was a father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He was known by all for his clean shiny car, and his presence touched the lives of many. Whether through coaching Special Olympics or Y basketball team(s) or spending time with family, he left a lasting impact on all who knew him. Larry also enjoyed playing basketball, pool, ping pong, watching his favorite tv show COPS, working on his cars, and listening to music.
He is proceeded in death by his parents and stepdaughter Tisha. He is survived by his wife Tracey, children Devon & Cidnei , grandchildren, brother Rodney, sister Carolyn, nieces, and nephews, and a host of extended family, coworkers, and friends who will miss him dearly.
Per Larry’s wishes, a formal service will not be held. A Celebration Of Life will be held March 2, 2025 at Chantaclear Residence Clubhouse 1400 Garret Lane, Lincoln, NE. 1- 3pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Special Olympics or LPS Foundation in his honor. Though we mourn his loss, we take comfort in the love and memories he leaves behind, and his spirit will remain with us always.

Condolences for Larry E. Sypho
I worked with and shared a delivery truck with Larry for years at LPS. Great guy, great times. Our condolences to the family.
My sincere condolences!
I was saddened to hear of the passing of Larry. Please accept my deepest condolences. I worked with Larry since I started with LPS in 1993. He will be remembered for his kindness, helpful attitude, his jokes, and so much more. He was a great friend and I will miss him. I wish his family and friends strength and comfort at this difficult time.
I am his niece Joslynn. I miss him so much. He was a man of very little words but would get your attention when he entered a room with how deep his voice was. I grew up the majority of my life without a father. My uncle picked up that role and helped me tremendously through life. He was an amazing role model to my boys. My heart is broken. When he left this world, he took a piece of me with him. I’d give anything for one more laugh, listen to old school in the garage or just to talk again. I miss you so much and I love you. I will see you soon Uncle Larry so we can continue grooving. Love your niece Joslynn
Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Ms. Scott, Dario and Kurt.
To my brother no matter how hard times were when we grew up how difficult I may have been I will say this I love you I will miss you I will always be behind you you are the only one that came back for me when everybody else left I thank you for that I thank you for that I’ll see you when I get there I miss you and I love you and I always will I love you Larry and to my brother’s wife you are the best thing that ever happened to him and I thank you for that what’s love Rodney
I want to thank everyone for their kind words about my dad. Pop was an amazing man. Although we didn’t see eye to eye and it strained our relationship. When I needed him most he was there. After the birth of my daughter Kennedy would never had another disagreement. I would still get lectured but we never argued because 9/10 times he was correct. He was the greatest grandparent to Kennedy and for that I’m extremely grateful. I wish we could all be together in the living room laughing and joking like we were a month ago. Ashley, Kennedy, and I love and miss you Pop.
I am so sorry for your families loss I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers!
I am Larry’s only sister. My heart is so heavy right now. I talked to my brother on Jan 31st and texted him on Feb 1st and on Feb 6 my sister-in-law gave me the news. I live in Austin and was in the middle of traffic when I got the news. I didn’t know what to do. To know that I will never again see my brother in the physical is mind blowing. I have visited Lincoln every year for 20 plus years to see my family. I would go to his house and have fun, laughter and show love. He’s an awesome brother and I am honored to be his big sister. Our mom passed five years ago and his name was the last name she called out. In my heart, I feel she came to get her son, so I know he’s with her. My brother was a stand up man, funny, no nonsense, kind, loving and a son our mom was proud of. He’s alright and so am I. To his wife Tracy, thank you for being that loving wife and sister-in-law. To my brother, I will miss you dearly. The next time you and I see each other will be in God’s house. From your niece Joslynn, nephews Isaiah, Zakari and Michael, and especially your big sis, we love you. Take your rest.
my one main thing is Larry was my brother. He and I both accepted the rules to each other from the time we met. He has been a true friend of me every day and I am not afraid to admit. I loved Larry very much and I’m sure he felt the same about me. I am going to miss him so very much. I met Larry when I first came to Nebraska and we have been brothers ever since I want to send out all my condolences to his children, his brother, his sisters and his nieces and nephews and mostly his wife Tracy he was truly my best friend. God will take care of you now Larry love you and miss you much already

I wish we had more time dad. My forever Angel. Thank you for My Gift of life❤️
My Mother worked for LPS in the print shop and for years she always talked about how nice Larry was and how she always got a hug from him and how he called her mom. When I started working for LPS as an Electrician I got to know this gentle giant with the big smile and he always asking about my mom. Loved him like a brother and will miss that big smile.
He will be truly missed, I always heard nothing but good things spoke about him, RIP COUSIN
