Dear family of Kathie,
I was so very sad to learn of Kathie’s death. Having grown up together as best friends, I am fondly remembering times we spent together and the fun we had. She will be missed by many. My sincere sympathy to you all. I regret I won’t be able to make the trip to attend Kathie’s service on Thursday, but will be thinking of you and keeping you in my prayers.
I’m very sorry to hear of your loss. Prayers, peace and comfort for all at this sad time of loss–may good memories of your parents be a source of strength.
Sincerely,
Carol Meyer, Southwood Lutheran Church Member
I had the privilege of working with Kathie at Irving Middle School for 11 years. Although I was not her student she taught me an awful lot. We shared a love of salty snacks so I kept Ruffles chips in my office and she would come in with her Diet Coke and we would take a few minutes to nibble and catch up on our busy days and lives. She was a phenomenal woman who I had the privilege of calling my friend. She will be truly missed. My sincerest condolences on your loss.
Darin, Brian and families, We were so sorry to see your Mom in the obituaries this morning. She was so wonderful and kind. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this sad time. Denise and Tom Tiedgen
My thoughts and prayers are with you. I will miss talking with Kathie when she was feeling well enough to talk. She was a sweet caring lady with a smile lik a ray of sunshines. She and Waynes devotion to God and each other always inspired me .
She was my teacher at Irving. She was such a wonderful person. She will be missed greatly. My prayers to her family at this time. Much love to you all.

Dear Family of Kathie,
Deepest condolences for your loss. I had the supreme privilege of working with Kathie at Irving. I was the School Nurse & wanted to get involved in the Red Cross Club, so I asked Kathie if I could help and thankfully she said yes. We had many great years sponsoring the after school club & I learned so much from her. We both had 2 sons and loved talking about your accomplishments. She was very proud of you. I am blessed to have known her, and I hope you can take comfort in your memories.
Brian & Lindsay: I am so sorry for your loss. Chris always loved your parents and spoke fondly of them both. I wish I knew the right thing to say, but, sadly, I don’t think there is such a thing. I can’t make it to the memorial, but, know that I am here for you if you need anything. Hugs. Sarah Newell
Kathie was one of the nicest sweetest people I know. She was a great friend to our daughter Nicole from junior high until the present -she was a good caretaker to her husband Wayne and she adored her grandchildren! A beautiful person inside and out ! May she rest in peace forever and our sympathy to your whole family
I am deeply saddened to hear about the passing of my dear friend Kathie. She was first my 7th grade English teacher at Irving, then my Red Cross club sponsor, my mentor, my colleague, and in my adult years, my friend. We have known each other for nearly 25 years and have gotten together at least once every year to share a meal and have a good, long conversation about our lives. She was there while I was studying to get my degree in education, sharing her stories of teaching. She was there to help me celebrate at my wedding, and danced joyfully with her husband that night. She came to see my children after they were born and was so happy to meet them. Losing a person who has been in your life for as long as she has been is devastating to me. I will miss my friend so much and I pray that God now has her in His arms and that she is free from pain. I’ll be praying for the Pape family in the days, weeks, months to come- although I’ve never met you, she always spoke of all of you with such love.
We’re so sorry for your loss… And we want you to know that we are thinking of all of you during this difficult period.
Hugs and Prayers,
Denise and Bruce Schroeder

Mrs. Pape was truly a lovely teacher. Kathie loved her students. She wasn’t afriad to tell them and encourage them all to be their best, including our Emma and Lilly! She was a true gift students, family and friends. She will be missed but her specialness touched many lifes and left a legacy of life-long learners!

Brian and Darin and family,
I was blessed to be your dads home health physical therapist and then your moms over the last 2 years it seems on and off. I was so sad to see she had died, but I also know the huge struggle she had on a day to day basis over the last year or so. What a strong, courageous, and giving woman she was! We connected on several levels, she retired from LPS, and so had my mom, she taught at Irving, and my children went there, Darin went to Rockhurst and so did I. I think many of our therapy sessions were as much for me as it was for her. She gave me teenage parenting advice, life advice, educated me on sclerederma, had discussion on medical maijuana…. the list goes on. I’m pretty sure I got teary eyed when she showed me the quilts she had made for you both with your dads shirts, she was so proud to leave a piece of him with you both. She was so proud of you both and your families and accomplishments and spoke of you both often. I think /know she liked talking better than she liked doing PT. 🙂
Take care of yourselves and each other, and stay connected, she would love that!
I was blessed to have met her!
With deepest sympathy, Melissa Renn
