James W. Behrens
James W. Behrens (Jim) was born on January 24, 1950, and drew his last breath on June 19, 2024, which we believe was due to the fact that he didn’t want to watch the upcoming election results. He was born to James & Betty Behrens in Lincoln, NE.
Jim started working in the food industry quite some time ago and made it his lifelong career. In the 1980’s he started with the McDonald’s Corporation where he held various positions as he worked his way up the corporate ladder. In 2002, Jim and Melanie purchased two McDonald’s franchises in SE Kansas and resided there for 7 years. They sold the stores in 2009, moved back to Lincoln, NE and Jim retired shortly thereafter.
Jim enjoyed golfing and anything to do with water, which included waterskiing and the swimming pools he had at virtually every house he owned. As most know, he was very proud of how he kept the pool, always having the correct amount of chlorine so the pH balance was perfect. He’d invite family, friends and neighbors over anytime to swim, eat and enjoy adult beverages. He was very competitive and never liked losing. When it came to playing water volleyball, he’d carefully choose his teammates every time to ensure he had the best shot at winning. He also enjoyed watching Judge Judy, overseeing Melanie’s quilting projects and giving her his two cents on flowers & landscaping ideas.
Jim is survived by his wife, Melanie, his son, James Behrens, Jr. (Lisa) of Maricopa, AZ, granddaughters, Macy Behrens of Seattle, WA & Madison Behrens, Maricopa, AZ and stepson, Brock See (Rebecca) of Lincoln, NE, many nieces & nephews and numerous friends.
Jim was predeceased by his parents and two sisters, Billy Jean Kolesar and Karen Hrdlicka.
A Celebration of Life will be held at The Old Pub, 420 South 11th Street, Lincoln, NE 68508 on Sunday, June 30, 2024 from 2-4pm.
