Condolences for Irma Sarata
Irma was an amazing mentor and friend! Love you!! I also know she is now with the love of her life ♥️
To Irma’s Family,
I was a student worker at the Nebraska Wesleyan Library under Irma’s supervision from 2007-2008. She was a valued mentor and the first Returned Peace Corps Volunteer I’d ever met. When I was an undergrad, she shared snippets of her experience, and later, when I made the decision to join the Peace Corps myself, she shared more.
The last time I saw Irma was at a mutual friend’s wedding just after I returned from my service Ukraine. There, I’d met my now husband–another volunteer. At that wedding, we shared a big hug and bitter sweet discussion of everything Peace Corps service can bring.
Irma continues to hold a special place in my heart and I am so, so grateful to have known her.
My deepest sympathies to you all.
I just found out about irma’s death and it is March 18 – we live in Colorado but I worked in the library with a Irma and we developed a strong friendship – I did drawings of her horse barn and gave her copies – you may have found them – I saw her last in July at the premier of the movie on our organic farm – we went to see sandhill cranes together and mostly we worked together – your mom was a gem and she will be terribly missed – I tried to call her this week and her cell phone said no longer so I knew something was up – much love – I feel like I know her family as she talked about you all with such love – maureen and Jay Vetter – 1711 mills drive – Estes park co 80527
