Harold Edward Risk

Harold “Harry” Risk, 84, of Lincoln, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2026. Harry was born on December 24, 1941, in Chicago to Edward Risk and Opal Marie Eversol and was raised in Terre Haute, IN.
As a young man, Harry proudly enlisted in the United States Army, serving from 1962 to 1964. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Judy Bickel; and his niece, Jennifer Bickel, both of Charlotte, NC.
Harry dedicated much of his life to hard work and service. He worked for the Lincoln Telephone & Telegraph Company and later Fujitsu, careers that often took him away from home for weeks at a time as he traveled installing telephone and communication systems across the country. In 1993, Harry accepted a position with Veterans Affairs in Lincoln as an IT Specialist, where he remained until his retirement in 2014 at the age of 73. Retirement did not come easily to Harry, as he believed deeply in the value of dedication and hard work.
His transfer to the Veterans system in Lincoln became a pivotal moment in his life, as it was there he met the love of his life and longtime partner, Clarice Kulceski. Together they shared more than 30 wonderful years filled with love, laughter, travel, family, and friendship.
Harry was a devoted family man whose greatest joy came from being present for the people he loved. He cherished family gatherings, birthdays, holidays, picnics, and vacations. He loved traveling with Clarice, family, and friends to Estes Park, Mexico, and the Bahamas. Harry never passed up a good margarita or the chance to sit outside on a patio or deck, always eager to invite neighbors and friends to join him.
He was a proud and enthusiastic supporter of his children and grandchildren, faithfully attending dance recitals, soccer games, football and basketball games, music performances, and countless family events. Harry’s greatest accomplishment was creating the close, loving family life he always wanted, ensuring his children and grandchildren knew they were deeply loved and supported.
Harry is survived by his life partner, Clarice Kulceski; his daughters, Tesia Risk of Lincoln NE, Alicia Risk of Longmont CO, and Emily Scheidel of Ferndale MI; sons-in-law Sergio Zaragoza and Dennis Scheidel; and his beloved grandchildren: Aven Risk of Broomfield CO, Alanna Silas-Risk of Lincoln NE, Javier Zaragoza of Lincoln NE, Gisele Zaragoza of Lincoln NE, Liam Scheidel of Ferndale MI, and Henry Scheidel of Ferndale MI.
Harry will be remembered for his steady presence, generous spirit, sense of humor, and unwavering love for his family and friends. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched and the memories shared by those who loved him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on June 25, 2026, at Glacial Till Vineyard & Winery- 344 S. 2nd Rd, Palmyra, NE 68418.
Family and friends are invited to gather for storytelling and remembrance from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. as we honor the wonderful life he shared with all who knew him.
