Elaine May Rees

May 7, 1925 – August 24, 2025

Elaine May (Weyer) Rees of Lincoln, formerly of Liberty NE, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2025, in Lincoln at the age of 100.

Elaine lived a great and healthy life. She was born May 7, 1925, near Barneston, NE. Elaine was the third of four kids born to John and Wihelmine “Minnie” (Stohs) Weyer.

Elaine grew up on a farm south of Barneston and graduated from Barneston High School in 1943. She married Keith Duane Rees of Liberty at St. John’s Lutheran Church west of Barneston April 4, 1948. They were married for 70 years. They have one daughter, Nancy.

Elaine worked for 62 years on their family farm by Liberty. NE. Elaine and Keith moved to the Cotner Center Condominiums in Lincoln in 2010.

She was active within the Mission Creek Presbyterian Church of rural Liberty, a member of the Pinochle Club, T.E.N. Extension Club, Barneston American Ladies Auxiliary, Red Hats Club, and the Cotner Center Social Committees. Elaine enjoyed gardening, baking, crocheting, and spending lots of time with her family.

Elaine is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Darrel) Weers, of Lincoln, granddaughter, Tracy (Kevin) Dickes, of Milford, grandson, Tyler (Diana) Weers, of Lincoln, great-grandson, Dawson Wright, of Lincoln, great-granddaughter, Maya Dickes, of Milford, great-granddaughter, Audrey Weers, of Lincoln, great-grandson, Hunter Weers, of Lincoln, beloved nieces and nephews and a legacy that will echo for generations.

Elaine is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Keith Rees; brother, Raymond Weyer; sisters Mildred and Madeline Weyer.

Memorials to the Mission Creek Cemetery.

A Celebration of Life will be held on September 2, 2025, at the Cotner Center Condominiums: 1540 N Cotner Blvd, Lincoln, NE from 5-7pm as well as on September 4, 2025, at the Barneston American Legion, 105 Grand Ave, Barneston, NE at 11am. A private internment will proceed later that day.

    Nancy and family: thankful for your mom, her 100 years of life, her great friendship and love for Mission Creek and Barneston. I am saying prayers for your peace and comfort. We are here for you.
    I loved my visits with her and the memories we had of life at MC. She was a treasure!
