Dennis “Digger” V. Hurlbut
Dennis Hurlbut, Digger to family and friends, was welcomed into Heaven on May 23, 2022 at the age of 61, surrounded by his family. Dennis was born on February 17, 1961 to Vern and Maxine (Janes) Hurlbut in York, NE. Dennis was born into a family that enjoyed motorcycles and bowling and he enjoyed sharing that passion with others.
On September 30, 2000 Dennis was united in marriage to the love of his life, Tammy Kear. That love only grew when their son Joshua was born. Being a husband and father was the greatest joy in his life. Rarely did you see one without the others. He was a devoted husband, amazing father, best friend, a provider, a coach, a band roadie, a concert goer, a race enthusiast, a bowler, an unlicensed day nurse, a brother, an uncle, a cousin and a simple man at heart. One of his greatest joys was sharing his love of life with his wife and son. We will miss his funny laugh, his corny jokes and his smile and take comfort in knowing he will continue as our protector from above.
Dennis is survived by his wife Tammy and son Joshua, sister Sharon (Steve) Hollander, mother-in-law Kitty Kear, brother-in-law Scott (Brandi) Kear, sisters-in-law Lori (Rodney) Droud, Chris (Scott) Sheppard and Tresha (Jeff) Zimmerman, several cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Meeting Dennis in Heaven were his parents and father-in-law Dennis Kear.
A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, June 26, 2022 at 2:00pm at Sunset Bowl in York, NE. As Dennis was truly a simple man the family is asking you to wear your favorite concert, bowling or racing shirt as those were what his family enjoyed doing together.

Condolences for Dennis “Digger” V. Hurlbut
So sorry to hear this.
Dennis was a really good guy. He will be sorely missed.
Sorry to hear this class of 79 classmate
Tammy and family. So very sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with all.
Fridays were the best part of the week when we got go bowl with the Hurlbuts. Dennis always greeted me with a smile and I looked forward to his cheesy jokes every week. And he coached me into picking up 10 pins!!! Will miss him terribly!
Tammy and Family I am so sorry for your loss. Shared alot of good times with Digger in the past. Will miss his smile and laugh. Send prayers and hugs.
We are so sorry for your loss of Dennis. We knew him years ago, then lost track of him. We have such wonderful memories of Digger. Chip met Digger in school and started riding dirt bikes together, and I met him through Chip. Every time I saw Digger and we hung out, he always had a smile on his face and was laughing! He was always so happy, so if you were feeling down, it would take long for Digger to get you smiling. Wish we could have come to the Celebration of Life, but we have been thinking of his family and sending prayers for strength to get through your terrible loss.
