September 11, 1957 – October 29, 2024

Deborah Lynn Huenink, passed away October 29, 2024 peacefully with her family by her side after a diagnosis of a rare aggressive cancer. She was so mad that this is what was going to take her. Deb was born September 11, 1957 in Bitburg, Germany. She was one of 7 siblings to a master Sargent in the AirForce, which is why she traveled a lot of her early childhood. In 1972 her parents settled in Lincoln, NE where they owned a restaurant in the Havelock area. This is where Deb found her love for cooking and how it brought comfort to those she cooked for. She married Gale on August 7th, 1989 where they raised their small herd of children (5) together along with many various animals in Panama, NE. She loved the small-town life and the many precious friendships she made in the years she lived there.

Deb was preceded in death by her dad, Rex May; mom, Dora May; Sister, Sharon May; Brother, Stuart May; Sister, Brenda and Brother-in-law, Ray Farrington. Deb is survived by her Husband Gale Huenink; her children Virginia and Steven Bauers; Wendy and Steve Wright; Raymond Scott; Melissa Klassen; Cori Hofmeister and Kristen Sharkey; Reese and Kelly Huenink. Her grandchildren Kolby Nelson, Kade Klassen, Trevor Curtis, Skylar Curtis, Toby Scott, Austin Scott, Jaxson Huenink, Cooper Huenink, Quinn Huenink, and James Hofmeister.

I am heartbroken over the loss of my dear friend, Deb. She was a wonderful wife, a devoted mom, an adoring grandma, and truly the best friend anyone could ask for. She loved us all from her kitchen – she was always sharing her latest dish. We shared unforgettable times, from childhood slumber parties to campouts and every heartfelt moment in between. Deb was one of a kind—full of warmth, humor, and the kind of friendship that makes life richer. I’ll forever cherish the memories of our time together, her laughter, and her fierce loyalty. She touched so many lives, including mine, and her presence will be deeply missed. My thoughts and prayers are with Gale, her family, and friends. May her memory be a blessing to all who knew her. My heart will always miss my best friend. I love you to pieces, Deb. You will be so deeply missed.
