Daniel (Dan) Forrest Wolford
Daniel (Dan) Forrest Wolford, 56, of Lincoln, NE, passed away on August 10, 2023 after an extended battle with IgA Nephropathy, an autoimmune disease that attacks the kidneys, also known as Berger’s disease.
Dan graduated from Omaha Central High School and attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, followed by a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from UNL, Dan began his engineering career with the Nebraska Department of Roads as an Engineering Associate responsible for inspecting and collaborating on highway projects. Later, as a Research Associate Engineer, Dan conducted independent research and analyses on roadside safety issues and authored numerous research reports and articles regarding bridge and highway safety, including in peer-reviewed journals and in presentations at local and national industry meetings. As a Design Engineer at HGM, Dan conducted the preliminary and final structural designs on numerous bridges, culverts and pedestrian bridges. In his work at Terra2, Dan served as a Project Manager for geospatial mapping.
Dan was a gentle soul with a big heart and an introspective spirit. He had a good sense of humor and a love of animals, particularly his beloved cats, Calvin and Buster. Dan also had a love of nature and the outdoors. He enjoyed cycling on paved urban trails, motorcycling on terrifyingly narrow, steep mountain trails in Colorado and taking spontaneous road (and off-road) adventures. Indoors, Dan played competitive foosball in local clubs and tournaments and took home championship hardware on numerous occasions. Dan also loved history, including that of his own family. He spent years conducting research and gathering archival materials before ultimately creating an extensive film, image and document archive related to Wolford and Lubischer family genealogy. Most of all, Dan was a loving and dedicated son, brother, nephew and uncle to his family and extended family.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Forrest and Margaret (Lubischer) Wolford of Omaha, NE. Dan is survived by his five siblings, including his twin sister Michele Wolford (Larry Williams) of Lincoln, NE, and four older siblings, John (Janet) Wolford of Nashville, TN, Jim Wolford (Kirsten Hinsdale) of Boston, MA, Lisa Wolford of Plattsmouth, NE, and Cleone (Dave) Levos of Anthem, AZ, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, his Uncle Charles Wolford of Redondo Beach, CA and Aunt Romaine Lubischer of Omaha, NE.
A funeral mass is scheduled on Thursday, August 24, 10 AM at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 6116 Dodge St., Omaha, followed by a burial service at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery at 4190 Leavenworth St. in Omaha. A luncheon will follow at noon.

Condolences for Daniel (Dan) Forrest Wolford
I am so terribly sorry for your loss. It’s been years since I’ve seen Danny. In my mind’s eye he is still that dark haired kid riding his bike down 58th street or perusing the latest spider man comic. Sending love to you all—
Danny was the first kid on the block we met when we moved on 58th st….he came to check us out and I think we passed! He found matt and wanted to check out his toys. A great friend to our boys when they were younger and comes from a great beloved family

My heart goes out to the Wolford family. I went to Central High with Shelly and Danny. I loved Danny’s quick wit. Very smart and funny. We three spent many hours at the Wolford dining room table doing homework. Great memories. Much love.
Cleone and family,
I am so sorry to hear about Danny. May happy memories help heal your hearts.

I haven’t seen Dan in many years but I have very fond memories of the times playing Foosball with him at the North Shore Tavern with brother John! I thought I was a good Foosball player, but Danny turned into a monster on the table. Lightening quick, humble, but stung like a bee when it was time to score! Such wonderful memories will keep him in my heart always!
