Candyce Susan Nass

Candyce Susan (Lamb) Nass passed away at her home in Lincoln, Nebraska on Saturday, February 22, 2025. She was born October 5, 1946 to Vernon Austin and Eula Ione (Schrader) Lamb.
She grew up and attended school in Hubbell and Chester, Nebraska where she met her life-long partner in love and crime Bill (William) Nass. Candy and Bill married on May 2, 1965, at the United Methodist Church in Hubbell. Together they raised two children and too many dogs and cats to name. Not everyone knew how much Candy enjoyed a good prank. She was known to have advertised items for sale in the paper without the owner’s knowledge or intent. She loved gag gifting and hiding odd items around your room or house to let you know she’d been there. On the occasion that you might have pulled a fast one on Candy and Bill, you might have found a goat under your bedroom window, or a giant can of tuna in your airport luggage in return.
Candy loved to share a laugh together, and her quiet demeanor left others unsuspecting – until you got to know her. Candy was dedicated to taking care of those she loved even when they didn’t know or see it. She would be the first to help with a tall task, bring food or offer her time to listen; she never asked for thanks. These priorities in life were clear in her often-repeated motto, “Dull women have immaculate houses.” Her grandchildren Ethan and Kate were showered with endless love and support as well as her unexpected pranks. She had an especially soft spot for furry orphaned creatures; she adopted many over the years that came to her from the backyard woodpile, coworkers, family and various shelters. Luke the gentle, lumbering yellow lab was an especially close companion. Candy took Bill on adventures to Alaska, Hawaii, and tropical islands he never knew he wanted to visit. Together they tore down and built homes, supported family, loved and worked out the hard parts for nearly sixty years. Her absence will weigh heavily, but memories of her will bring laughter and joy.
Remaining to celebrate her life are her husband William (Bill) Nass, daughter Kelly (David) Wieting and son Stacy, grandchildren Ethan and Kate Millington, brother Barry (Deborah) Lamb, sisters Roxanne Barr and Robin (Phil) Aponovich, sisters-in-law Donnie (Johnny) Fritson, Sharol Kleveland and Nancy Nass, and many nieces and nephews. Preceded by brother Robert Lamb, brother-in-law Randy Barr, sister-in-law Elaine Goodrich, and brothers-in-law Ron Nass, Steve Kleveland and Don Goodrich.
A private family inurnment will be held at a later date. Condolences may be sent to Bill and family at 4822 Cleveland Avenue, Lincoln, NE 68504. Memorials will be designated for HUA (Hearts United for Animals in Auburn, NE).
