John Edgar Davis

5/24/1966 – 10/15/2021

John was born and raised in Lincoln, NE, son of Jerome & Henrietta Davis & the middle brother of Rick, Matt, Dan, & Tim Davis. He attended and graduated from Southeast High School (class of 1984) & the University of Lincoln Nebraska, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Journalism.

Growing up, John enjoyed modeling, traveling, family, friends, fireworks, karate (3^rd degree black belt), comics, movies, poker, concerts, and was all around an outgoing man, often with family or his best friends Tom, Denny, Mark or Kyle. Early on, John learned the roofing trade from his father, and in 1994, John built a successful roofing company in Lincoln, Davis Roofing, Inc. John owned and operated Davis Roofing, Inc. from 1994-2013. In 2013, he joined the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad Company as a Conductor, and then later earned his Engineering certificate in 2016, while additionally caring for his late mother, father, and brother Matt.

John is survived by his father, Jerome of Lincoln, brothers Rick of McAlester, OK, Matt of Lincoln, Tim and wife Lea of Lincoln, niece and nephews Jessica, Rich, Kimberly, Riley, McKenzie and Amelia, many great & great-great niece and nephews, and other extended families. He is preceded in death by his mother, Henrietta, brother, Dan, and sister-in-law, Sherry.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, October 23^rd from 2-5PM at 1^st Avenue Social Hall, 2310 N1st St. A Mass will be held Saturday, November 6 at 10:30AM at St. Teresa Catholic Church, 735 S 36^th St.
