Donald Joseph Berger II
Donald Joseph Berger II, 67, of Lincoln, Nebraska passed away on Saturday, November 21st, 2020 surrounded by family.
He was born to parents Donald J. Berger Sr. and Mary L. Berger, on October 1st, 1953 in Wichita, KS. Donald grew up in Bloomfield, NE and graduated from Norfolk High School. He received an Associate Degree in Data Processing from Northeast Nebraska Technical Community College.
Donald is survived by his children, Christopher Berger (Lenore) and Hillary Berger. His granddaughter, Alice Berger. His siblings, Constance “Connie” Mills (Kenneth), Mary Frances Christensen, Michael “Mike” Berger (Deb), Mark Berger, Robert “Bob” Berger (Laneta), and Genevieve “Jeanie” Franz (Ronald).
Predeceased by parents, Donald J.Berger Sr., and Mary L. Berger and sister-in-law, Joyce Berger; brother-in-law, Billy Mills. Also Grandparents, Rudolf and Genevieve Wolpert; Frank and Rose Berger.
Don leaves many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends to mourn his passing.
A Celebration of Life Open House will be held at Horizons Community Church (3200 Grainger Pkway, Lincoln, NE 68516) on Saturday, July 10th, 2021 from 11:00am – 2:00pm.

I’m so sorry to hear of your father and my friend’s passing. You two were Don’s everything. He loved you so much. The picture here with his granddaughter is priceless. Please let me know if I can help in anyway. I will always hold a special place in my heart for Don. He was a great friend and will be missed.

Our sympathies to the Berger family. Our families were close when the Bergers lived in Bloomfield. I shared Joe’s passing with my siblings. We enjoyed reminiscing about the Berger/Kohles connections~the “Good ole days”. Sherry, Jerry, Roger, Chuck, Mary and Lisa all send their condolences. (Larry passed away in 2000). Very sorry to hear that Joe passed away. We Heavrin’s always knew “Donald Joseph” as Joe. I remember Joe as the “little” brother who wanted to hang with the big guys. Now he can hang with the “big” guys in heaven. He will undoubtedly be missed by many.
I echo everyone else sending condolences after Joe’s passing. The Bergers and Heavrins spent lots of time together as kids – both in and out of school. We were on the swim team for years, and can still remember when a bunch of us tried walking home on the railroad tracks from a Wausa Swim Meet. It started getting dark, and all of us were scared to death – then, rounding bend we saw Mr. Berger (Joe’s dad) waiting for us at a country-road intersection. I’m sure he knew that we were falling apart as the sun started going down. Sleeping in the tent or on the back balcony at the Berger house were two more times when we were scared spit-less – a scary guy with a “bump on his head” standing in the door of the tent; and then the scary “blue lights” coming from a detached garage at the old Funeral Home. I could go on and on, but had better close. All of the Berger “kids” are special – and I’ll be remembering Joe at Mass each Sunday. Rest in Peace Joe….
Christopher and Hillary, you have my most heartfelt condolences. I worked with Don at State Farm and he quickly became a great friend and mentor. He talked of you two so often. Rest in Peace my brother!
