Please, in lieu of flowers, the following are some ways you can honor her memory:
- Plant something that will grow, in your own garden. A vegetable, a shrub, a tree, a flower. Think of her when you care for it, as she had quite the green thumb.
- Her love of animals can be carried on by making a contribution to your local Animal Shelter.
- Another cause she felt strongly about was research for a cure for Alzheimer’s. She didn’t have this disease, but many do, which is why a contribution to the Alzheimer’s Association would be fine as well.
Graveside services will be immediate family only.

Condolences for Susan Kay Bernt
Charlie, Lisa, Lori and families. Barbara and I wish to express our deepest condolences for your sudden loss. Aunt Sue was a very special woman to us. She always will be within our hearts. As Leo Buscaglia said: “I know for certain that we never lose the people we love, even to death. They continue to participate in every act, thought and decision we make. Their love leaves an indelible imprint in our memories.” Aunt Sue’s memories will remain with us throughout time. Again, she was a very special woman. You all are in our hearts and prayers. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Psalms 34:18
