Virgil Richard Ward
Virgil Ward, 71, of Lincoln died April 7, 2018. Born 10/08/1946 in Redfield, South Dakota. Son of Melvin and Josephine Ward. He married Edna Greer on June 25th 1967.
Survivors: wife Edna Greer Ward; daughter Kerri and husband Ben Ruff; grandsons R. Jacob Rappa and Gabriel Ruff; sister Verdel Garbi and nieces and nephews Kevin, Jonathon, Jeffry and Rebecca.
Cremation. No visitation. Celebration of Life Service on Monday, April 16, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Lincoln Berean Church. Use the north entrance.

For many years I worked with Virgil at the University of Nebraska Lincoln for over 20 years. He was a great colleague and a respected member of the IT community. His friendship and helping hand to my family in teaching and guiding my children in archery and hunting and marksmanship helped mold budding young scouts.

Virg was a great guy! I always enjoyed visiting with him about fishing, and eating his famous grillers!! Our condolences to the family!
Dear Edna – Oh my good friend Virg. So sorry for your loss at Virgil’s passing. I still have some Virgil wine in my cellar and will drink a glass in his memory and honor. Thanks for all your kindnesses, and his, to me and my staff. May God grant you comfort.
Virgil was a real nice man I’m glad I got to meet him even though it was very short he was doing rehab on the floor that I worked on at gateway Vista and he would talk about his wine making he did. I remember very well all the foods he liked there the first day he arrived I made sure he got vanilla ice cream with real fresh strawberries and he told me how nice I was and he was happy that I could help him and he seen how well I worked and he made the comment it’s too bad you couldn’t come to my house you are a really good worker!
Was sadden to read about Virgil’s passing. I always looked forward to seeing him when he would come into the dental office. He always spoiled us with cookies, wine, and jam. He will be greatly missed by many. My condolence to the family.

I hope you will remember me. We worked together at LTT when they brought me into the department in the group of in-house trained Y2K programmers.
While I never met your husband I recall the smoked turkey that he generously fixed for our department Thanksgiving luncheon.

I know we will see them again, and in the meantime I hope you will continue to feel his spirit with you.

Virgil was my Dad’s best friend and he was a kind and generous man. My daughter enjoyed making jams and pizzas with him. I will miss his big heart and warm smile. Edna, if you need anything please let us know.
