Marlow “Dan” Elsasser, 84, passed away the afternoon of April 12. Husband and father of three, he was born in the northern Nebraska town of Anoka on August 2, 1941, the second youngest of 13 siblings. After graduating from high school in the town of Lynch, Nebraska he enlisted in the Air Force and was stationed in Tripoli, Libya.

Upon return, he found work in Yellowstone National Park with the telephone company as a lineman establishing some of the first telephone lines in the park. From there he transferred to Casper, Wyoming. That’s where he met the love of his life, Donna Lewis. The two married and started a family and settled in Lincoln, Nebraska in 1985 in order to seek the best medical care for her. They delighted in 51 years of marriage, until widowed by Donna in 2016.

Dan loved to joke and laugh, genuinely loved people, and found enjoyment in helping others. His long and record setting sales career demonstrated how much he loved engaging with people on their level. He appreciated a live band and he loved to dance. He enjoyed good food and had a sweet tooth. He liked watching sports, and was especially nostalgic of the Larry Bird era Boston Celtics. Of course, he loved, and was heartbroken at times, by the Cornhuskers.

Mostly, he was a loyal husband, good provider, a loving father, a best friend, and a good man…

And he would want it to be said: That while he may not be an excellent singer, he was an excellent dancer!

He is survived by his son Daniel Heith (Jenny) Elsasser and daughter Lesa Bonicatto and many  grandchildren.

He is also survived by sister-in-law Dorene Elsasser, sisters Delores (Ronnie) Carson and Jeanette Bonaventura, and brothers Wilbur Elsasser and Willus Elsasser, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Donna, his daughter Karla Elsasser, his parents, 5 brothers, 2 sisters and many nieces and nephews.

He requested no funeral.

So sorry to hear of Dan’s death. He and Jim were great friends and often picked up pop for the Eagles..They shared stories and lots of laughs while in the pickup.
Judy would have a dance with Dan..He did
have a unique style, but he loved to dance.
    He will be missed.
