Jane H. Kinsey

March 10, 1935 – March 31, 2026
Jane H. Kinsey, 91, of Lincoln, passed away March 31, 2026. Born in Omaha to George R. and Norma (Towne) Hrdlicka, she spent her early years in several east coast states as her father served in the Navy state side during World War II.
She married Charles I. Kinsey in Atlanta. They attended Presbyterian College, where she studied teaching. Their two sons were born in Lawton, Oklahoma and Casper, Wyoming. After their marriage ended, Jane raised her sons and completed a Masters degree in Social Work from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. She spent her career as a clinical social worker in various positions maintaining a private practice for decades. She “never retired,” working part-time from her home office until shortly before her death.
Active in civic life, she served as spokesperson for Watchdogs of Lincoln Government and was a candidate for the Lincoln Public Schools Board and City Council. She enjoyed traveling to nearly 50 countries through Friendship Force. Member Heritage League and ELBA.
She is survived by her sons, Bradford Kinsey of Langley, WA, and Brent (Susie) Kinsey of Lincoln; grandchildren Ryan (Laura) Desrosiers-Whalley of Bury St. Edmunds, England, Bailey Desrosiers of Langley, WA, Thomas Kinsey of Lincoln, and Ellen Kinsey of Bellevue, NE. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, George “Tim” Hrdlicka; and son-in-law Robert Machen.
Memorial service: 11 a.m. Friday, April 17, 2026, at Eastridge Presbyterian Church, Lincoln. Bridge players are welcome to stay and play in her honor. Memorials to the American Cancer Society.
