Sharon H. Godfrey 79, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2026, with her family by her side.  She was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on April 28, 1946, to Philip and Luella Jones. Being the daughter of a Navy officer, she lived in many different places around the world as a child.

Sharon faced many challenges throughout her life.  She married young, had a child, and then found herself a single mother at age 22.  She persevered and managed to complete her bachelor’s degree at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI while juggling the demands of work, school, and motherhood.

Searching for greener pastures, she moved to Denver, CO in the early 1970’s and eventually got a job as a lab technician at Gates Rubber Company.  While working at Gates, she earned an MBA at Regis College in Denver.  As a victim of the plant closure, she found herself unemployed in her 40’s.

She went back to school and earned a master’s degree in civil engineering at Colorado State University, eventually getting a job with the state of Nebraska in Lincoln, NE where she finished her career.

Sharon was strong and fiercely independent.  She had a lifelong love of horses.  A perfect weekend for her was to take the horse and go camping with friends.

Sharon is survived by her daughter Erin Kline, her brother William Jones (Elaine), her two grandchildren Zachary and Sarah Kline, and her two nieces Kaylee and Kelsey Jones.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Douglas and Philip Jones and her son-in-law Robert Kline.
