Ronald Dean Galusha, 70, of Lincoln, Nebraska, received his wings on December 12, 2025.  He was surrounded by his loving family.  He was born in Central City, Nebraska on August 4, 1955.  He was a 1973 graduate of Lincoln High School in Lincoln, Nebraska.  He received his Machine Tool Technology degree from Southeast Community College in Milford, Nebraska in December of 1974.  Ron’s employment included Garner Industries, Lincoln Machine & Marine, Nebraska Mold and Engineering, and Molex.  He co-owned Nebraska Mold and Engineering with his good friend Jeff Ditzler.  Ron owned and operated two small businesses, Ron’s Speed Shop and later Response Racing.

Ron married his wife Leann on April 12, 1975, enjoying 50 years together.  They were blessed with three children, Kellie, Stacey, and Franklin.  They have six grandchildren; Anderson and Aubree, Kenzie and Emmett, and Adilyn and Oakley.  Ron loved and was so proud of his family.  He truly enjoyed going to all of their activities.

Ron loved spending time with family and friends.  He especially enjoyed his annual deer hunting trips with his father, brothers, and nephews.  As a young boy Ron’s interest in car racing was sparked by a young driver named Kenny Gritz, whose car number was 12.  As an adult Ron started racing micro and full sized sprint cars.  His car numbers were 12, unless he was driving someone else’s car.  He was meticulous in maintaining his cars.  Ron passed on his talent and passion for racing to his son Frank and nephew Jake, sharing his experience and knowledge.  Ron has made so many friends throughout the racing community, both across the USA, and in Australia where his son competed.

Ron is survived by his wife, Leann Galusha, daughters Kellie Barrett (Jim) and Stacey McCoy (Phil), and son Franklin Galusha (Hunter); grandchildren Anderson and Aubree Barrett, Emmett McCoy, Adilyn and Oakley Galusha; brothers Jack Galusha (Cyndi), Bill Galusha (Char); aunts Lois Galusha Gowler (Jerry), Joyce Galusha Daws; and many treasured nieces and nephews and their families.  Loving family members who received their wings prior to Ron were his mother and father Gerald (Jerry) Galusha and Alice Mae Galusha (Rose); infant sister Gladys Galusha and brothers Gerald (Jerry) Galusha Jr., and Benjamin Rex Galusha; grandparents, aunts and uncles.  His beloved granddaughter Kenzie McCoy received her angel wings before papa and was waiting to take his hand.

Ron Galusha’s Celebration of Life April 25th 1:00-5:00 at the Lincoln Firefighters Reception Hall: 241 Victory Ln, Lincoln, NE.

“Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming – WOW – what a ride!”

We will miss Ron. He was a great man and we enjoyed spending time with him. Still smile when the ladies at the track thought Ron was Geno’s dad, before Geno was gray 😉. Lifting you family up in prayer. ♥️

I met Ron about 7 years ago, as we had just moved to Lincoln. We found we had a lot of things in common. We both were the same age, both graduated high school in the Great Year of “1973”, we both liked throwing a few bucks on a pony while enjoying a beer, and we both were preparing to retire. We would meet with other friends at the Lincoln Racecourse, before the casino invasion! to talk over the day’s events. There was a high school track coach that would stop by once in a while. The coach called it track practice, so that’s where we told our wives we were “Track Practice”. Ron was such an easy guy to talk with, and I enjoyed learning about his passion for micro and midget winged race cars. After retirement he would spend most of his time helping his son Frank prepare the cars for the next race. Ron was an expert at keeping them in perfect condition and I never heard him complain when they arrived crippled and sometimes mangled after a long weekend of racing. Ron also loved getting up early to study stock market Reddit activity on his double screens, texting me on his predictions. Let’s just say it was profitable! As our friendship grew, it was so sudden that he started feeling ill. Ron was a tough guy. I later watched helplessly, as he fought, not one battle with cancer but 3 or 4 rounds. As another friend stated, “Ron was a Kind Soul” He was also a good man and good friend that I will miss. God Bless you Ron and your loving family.

Sorry to hear about Ron’s passing. We went to school together and like others have commented, he was a very kind soul. He also was a fierce competitor. Not only in his race cars, but on the racquetball court. Many times he humbled me with his skills, but always fair and gracious. Rest in peace, Ron.
