Donald Edward Egenberger

Donald (Don) Egenberger was born on June 14, 1939, in Long Beach, California to Charles and Maurine (McCullough) Egenberger. Don grew up on a ranch south of Brady Nebraska. He married Janice S. Craig on November 19, 1959, in Kearney, Nebraska. Don and Jan have two children, Robert (Bob) and Dawn. Don spent most of his life working in retail store management throughout the Midwest and was co-owner with Jan of a Ben Franklin Store in Minden Nebraska 1975 – 1985. Don served a term on the Minden School Board. He was then elected to the Kearney County Board of Supervisors and served for 20 years.
Don is survived by his wife of nearly 66 years, Jan, his son Robert (Gina), daughter Dawn Rockey (Brian), grandchildren Ian Egenberger, Chelsea Egenberger and Gus Rockey, his sister Mary Ann Sullivan, sisters-in-law Patty Egenberger and Sheila Egenberger and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws Robert and Hazel Craig, sister-in-law LaVae Fattig, brother and sister-in-law Jim and Char, and brothers Terry, Bill, and Jerry Egenberger.
Don was a great dad and grandfather. Don (Papa) enjoyed the time he was able to spend with his grandchildren. He loved his family, and we will miss him greatly.
A Memorial Service will be held on November 10, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Christ United Methodist Church, 4530 A Street, Lincoln, NE 68510. Interment to be held later in Gaslin Cemetery, Brady NE.
Memorials suggested to the Food Bank of Lincoln or to the family for further designation.

Uncle Don was the most kind, loving and charismatic individual any person could ever meet! He and aunt Jan never failed to remember us and our children especially when it came to holidays, birthdays and important milestones in our lives and for that im eternally grateful! Rest in peace uncle Don. I will never forget you!
