Michael Warren Shurter
Michael Warren Shurter, 77, passed away peacefully at his home in Lincoln, Nebraska on March 8, 2025. Mike was born June 15, 1947 in Lincoln, Nebraska to Olive (Pickard) and William Shurter. Mike attended Lincoln High School and, after a variety of life experiences, married Virginia “Ginger” Fedon on June 27, 1986. Over the years, Mike worked in several professions, ranging from bartending to serving as a lieutenant at the state correctional facility. Ultimately, he realized that the only person he truly wanted to work for was himself. He became a small business owner, partnering with his wife Ginger to successfully operate Mike Shurter Floors in Lincoln for over 30 years.
Mike is survived by his wife Ginger, of the home, sister Jeani Crounse, son Rodney Shurter, son Shon Shurter, daughter Niki Sadler (Stanley), son Scott Shurter (Dawn), daughter Tisha Woodbeck (Joshua), and bonus daughter Michelle Fedon. He also leaves behind 24 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews who will sadly miss him. His beloved French Bulldogs, Jade and Molly, will miss their afternoon lap naps, belly rubs, and bedtime cookies from dad.
If you knew Mike, you’d know he was famous for sharing colorful stories about his wild youth and the outrageous adventures he had with close friends. He was always the life of the party, drawing people in with his charisma and light-hearted spirit. He had a love for practical jokes and laughter, and ALWAYS had a quick-witted comeback or punchline ready. He often said, “I may not have always been right, but I was never wrong.” Mike lived unapologetically by his own rules and his presence will be greatly missed.
As per Mike’s wishes, he has chosen cremation and no funeral services. The immediate family will gather at a future date to celebrate his life. FTAB6UTAP

I had the pleasure and honor to call Mike and friends. I actually considered him family. He wasn’t afraid to tell you what he thought whether you liked it or not. Something i really respected about Mike. He was fun to be with and very quick with a funny comeback to anything. I will miss him very much. RIP my dear friend. You will always be with me. My heart goes out to Michael and his family during this difficult time. I will always remember Michael for his kindness, infectious laughter and stories galore. I had met Michael along my banking career and he would love to come in and chat for hours. A little about banking and a lot about life. I was able to get to know Ginger throughout these encounters as well. His visits will be missed. You are all in my thoughts and prayers as you navigate through this journey of grief.
Ive known Mike for 40 + years, after working under his supervision/training at the Nebr Dept of Corrections. At first, to me, he was very intimidating, and not one to cross. After getting to know him, he wasnt so bad, if you were on his good side. Mike, to me, was a teacher of many things, without him knowing he was teaching me. I have great respect for him and Ginger, and a friendship that is/was unbreakable. I will never forget him, and i will miss him more than anyone can know.
