Robert Eugene Hahn
Robert Eugene Hahn, 77, Lincoln, died Friday, July 26. Born January 23, 1947, Ainsworth, NE to Ray and Alberta Hahn. Grew up in Burwell, NE. Registered nurse, worked at Bryan Memorial Hospital for 37 years, 14 as head nurse of surgical floor and ending his career with 15 years as night shift administrative house officer. Married to Bug (Benita) Johnson, Long Pine, NE, on October 21, 1983, in Lincoln.
A 1965 graduate of Lincoln Northeast High School where he played basketball, Bob earned a BS in Health Sciences (1972) and a BSN (1983), both from Nebraska Wesleyan Univeristy. A member of the Nebraska Wesleyan basketball team through his senior year, he lettered and held records for season highs (1967-68) in “most rebounds per season” (#3 then, now #6 all-time) and “highest rebound average” (#2 then, now #4 all-time). Bob scored the cumulative points to earn him a place as 1 of 40 members of Wesleyan’s Men’s Basketball “1,000 Point Club.” Bob liked to say he “majored in basketball and bridge.”
Besides his lifelong interest in sports, Bob loved music, especially the Beatles, and sharing his encyclopedic knowledge of rock and roll and his mixed tapes with friends. He hosted a Christmas party for colleagues and friends with wife Bug for a decade in the family home they built in northeast Lincoln.
Survivors: wife, Bug, Lincoln; brother, Richard (Jane), Hawaii; sister Roxane Hicks (Glenn) Lincoln; daughters Kandalyn (Richard Poemape), Chicago, IL, Chelsea (Alison Lenz) Lakewood, CO; son Rob (Mackenzie) Lincoln; grandson Julian Hahn Poemape, Chicago, IL; nieces and nephews, cats Fergie and Marley. Preceded in death by parents and sister Rickie Walsh (John).
No funeral. Celebration of Life, 1-4p.m., Saturday, August 24, 2024, Isles Reception Hall, 6232 Havelock, Lincoln. Memorials to the family for later designation.

Bob was a good friend in high school. He will be missed. He was a great nurse too. Rest In Peace my friend!
We are my husband, Dale, and I were next door neighbors of Bob and Bug for many years and he was one fine neighbor. I was lucky enough to be the recipient of many CD’s Bob made for me. We had a mutual love for Van Morrison. Bob & Bug threw some fun parties. We are lucky to have known Bob. He will be missed! Our condolences Hahn family.

My condolences to Bob’s family on the loss of your husband, father and brother. It doesn’t seem like that much time could have passed since we were high schoolers on Carlos Drive. He provided so much care for others I hope he had a peaceful end.
My husband, Larry Hindmand, would of had many things to say. He knew Bob while they were growing up. Relatives lived in different states, so it was difficult keeping in touch. Their grandparents were a great influence on the family.

My heart hurts. Bob was truly one of a kind. I remember the first time I met Bob, at the old Bryan Memorial. I was working the front desk in HR and Bob came in. I looked up and here was this man, filling the doorway with his height and having long dark hair and a beard, I was speechless, I wondered if his patients thought they had died and went to heaven when they looked up at Bob. Through the years I could always count on Bob to have something to say. We will miss you, RIP my friend.
Bob was a good friend and great nurse, both practicing and teaching. We met in 1965 as college freshmen and remained shared many fun adventures. Listening to music and philosophy and politics were ongoing pursuits when we got together. We enjoyed eating Asian foods – Pho, Champung, and Kim Chee. I count myself fortunate to have known Bob Hahn. I will miss knowing that his earthly presence is no more. May Perpetural Light Shine Upon Him.

Got to know Bob at BryanLGH. He was at Northeast when I was at Lincoln High. He had a dry sense of humor and was always ready to be challenged. He will be missed.
Bob and my dad Gary worked together at Bryan and were good friends when I was young. We spent many fun weekends with the delightful Hahn family. I am sending you all hugs and healing.

I met Bob when his mother was a hospice patient. He had the qualities I look for in a nurse; compassion, common sense, & a sense of humor.. I was later the recipient of one of his mix tapes. My sympathies to you, Bug, cherish the memories.. (I think I met you in the ER one day!)
