Alfred Williams Burdick
Alfred “Al” Williams Burdick was born on November 20, 1943, in Madison, Tennessee, and fell asleep on March 18, 2023, in Lincoln, Nebraska, to await the second coming of Christ, his lifelong Friend.
His wife, Doris Stickle Burdick, and his two children, Janene and Brent, were at his side to share last words of love. Subsequent to his death, it was determined he had acute leukemia of recent origin.
In retirement, Al remained active as a volunteer at College View Church of Seventh-day Adventists of which he was a member, as a volunteer and board member at Christian Record Services for the Blind, and in the Lincoln East Rotary Club where he worked closely with the Rotary Nutrition Project in Zambia, Africa.
Prior to retirement, he was treasurer of AdventSource on the campus of Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska. Prior to moving to Lincoln in 2000, he marketed printing for the College Press on the campus of Southern Adventist University in Collegedale, Tennessee. Before that, he chaired the business department of Korean Union College in Seoul, Korea, for five years, 1978-83. From 1975-78 he managed the finances of Mount Pisgah Academy in Candler, North Carolina. Between his discharge from two years of military service, stationed in Germany, and the move to North Carolina, he was director of the computing center at Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan, completed his MBA, and worked in the marketing field. He had earned his B.S. degree there in 1966 and was immediately employed by Andrews University.
Each member of his family was dear to his heart. Janene Joy Burdick (married to Jack Burdick) lives in Calimesa, California. In their family are John Alfred, Joy Marie, Joshua Edward, and Jillian Elizabeth. Brent Burnell Burdick (married to Angela Balfour) lives in Laurel, Maryland, with their two daughters, Abigayle Anne and Emily Rose. He will also be missed by hundreds of friends.

The memorial service for Al Burdick will be on Sabbath (Saturday), April 29, 4 p.m., Central Time, in the College View Church of Seventh-day Adventists here in Lincoln, Nebraska.

I feel privelaged to have known Al, as I called him…although I didn’t know him long, the encounters we had, felt like we had known one another for a lifetime. He was a very kind hearted man, who loved Jesus. I look forward to seeing him again soon…he will be missed💔😢🙏🙏🙏
I got the privilege of knowing Al through College View Church and then more closely when I became friends with his daughter. We were “bargain buddies” sharing the thrill of garage sale and thrift store finds. He was such a happy, good natured individual. Al lived an active life for his Lord and savior. Rest peacefully friend. Jesus will be back soon to recreate you anew.

So very saddened for your loss . I have such fond memories of Al & Doris welcoming Mom and me to Chattanooga many years ago. I remember Al as such a kind person, and a great tour guide! May your hearts be comforted in your grief, as you wait for Jesus to come. So amazing that the next thing Al sees will be Jesus’ loving face, followed closely by the embraces of his family!
We will you friend until that day when Jesus comes again to take all of us to His mansion with many rooms. Rest in peace🙏🏽🙏🏻❤️❤️
Al always referred to us as “twins” because we (Chris) share the same birthdate (November 20). Wherever Al was, I could count on a smile, a hearty handshake and slap on the back, and a warm wisecrack. We also shared our complete love for Jesus and for all people.
I loved Al and miss him already. I’m looking forward to very soon sharing a handshake, a back slap, and a wisecrack with my friend.

Al always brought a smile to my face with his heartfelt greetings whenever we happened to meet. We enjoyed fellowship at potlucks, Sabbath School activities and other places. I am going to miss him and all the laughter we shared. He made life a lot happier for those who knew and loved him. Heaven will be extra sweet because of him.
