Dear Jill & Family,
Dick and I go back a number of years and a couple of memories come to mind.
Dick & I played on opposing basketball teams in high school. He played for State Center & I played for LeGrand, coached by Buzz Levick. LeGrand managed a win in a tournament game which Dick and I replayed and discussed, many times over the years.
A pleasant surprise was our being able to room together my senior year in college. One memorable trip was when Dick and drove to Ames to witness Wilt Chamberlain of Kansas, getting beat by Iowa State! The whole town practically shut down as that was not suppose to happen.

To all of Richard’s family: I am saddened beyond belief. Richard was always someone I admired but hardly knew. We come from a common background but were never allowed to be the family we should have been. The last few months of communicating with all of you, and especially Richard, have been very special to me. I am so sorry that this relationship started so late in life, but, also thankful that Chad got us together. I don’t know what else to say other than again, I am deeply saddened, and I will miss him. God bless all of you. John
